What Sundial Tree Care is

Sundial Tree Care connects Redding-area homeowners with independent, third-party tree service providers for removal, trimming, and stump grinding work. We don't perform tree work ourselves — we help you find a provider who does. We built this site to answer the questions a Redding-area homeowner actually has before calling anyone — what tree removal, trimming, or stump grinding should cost, whether a permit applies, how to verify a provider's license — and then, if you want one, to connect you with an independent local provider.

What we are not

We do not remove, trim, or grind trees ourselves. No one on our team holds a chainsaw or a CSLB license, and nothing on this site should read as if we do. We are not a review site and don't publish star ratings or review counts we haven't personally verified. We are not affiliated with the City of Redding, Shasta County, or the CSLB — we cite their public pages, but we're an independent publisher, not a government source.

Licensing context we publish

California requires a CSLB C-49 ("Tree and Palm Contractor") license for most paid tree removal, trimming, and stump-grinding work. A project under $1,000 total (labor + materials) that needs no permit can qualify for the state's minor-work exemption (AB 2622, claude_FACTS_CA_STATE.md CA-007) — but most tree removal and major trimming jobs exceed that. Always verify a provider's C-49 license number yourself using CSLB's free Check a License tool (cslb.ca.gov) before hiring.

Our research methodology

• Primary sources first. City of Redding and Shasta County government pages and CSLB's own classification pages outrank a blog post or an aggregator every time we can find one.

• Dated and rechecked. Every page shows when it was last reviewed. Prices and rules get rechecked before each republish.

• No invented facts. Where a fact can't be verified — a specific permit fee, a company's insurance status — we say we don't know rather than guess, and tell you who to call for the real answer.
